On 06 February 2024 MP Biplab Kumar Deb (former Tripura CM) raised India Medical Institute of Medical Sciences (AllMS) hospital's pending demand issue for Tripura in the Parliament. He asked the Honorable Health Minister, "Is there any plan to provide Tripura with an AIIMS hospital in the next budget?"

Dr. Bharati Pravin Pawar, Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, government of India, did not provide any response regarding the AIIMS Hospital in Tripura; instead, she mentioned that the upgradation of the Government Medical College in its 3rd phase is currently in progress with a budget of 150 crore rupees.
However, on 19 July 2023, former Tripura CM Biplab Kumar Deb visited the proposed site for the establishment of the All India Medical Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Bodhjungnagar in Tripura to assess the condition of the land.
