🌸 What Is Ovulation?

Ovulation is a natural process in a woman’s menstrual cycle when a mature egg is released from one of the ovaries. This egg travels through the fallopian tube, where it can be fertilized by a sperm cell.

  • Ovulation usually happens once in each menstrual cycle, around 14 days before your next period.
  • The released egg stays alive for 12–24 hours.
  • If it meets sperm during this time, fertilization may occur and pregnancy can begin.
  • If not, the egg dissolves, and the body prepares for the next cycle — resulting in your period.

🌿 What Is Fertility?

Fertility refers to the ability to conceive and produce offspring. For women, fertility depends on several factors such as:

  • Regular ovulation
  • Healthy eggs and reproductive organs
  • Balanced hormones
  • Proper timing of intercourse during the fertile window

Men’s fertility depends on the quantity and quality of sperm.

💕 The Fertile Window

The fertile window is the period in your cycle when you’re most likely to get pregnant. It includes:

  • The 5 days before ovulation, when sperm can survive in the body, and
  • The day of ovulation itself.

So, if you want to conceive, having intercourse during this 6-day window gives the highest chance of pregnancy.

⚠️ Every woman’s cycle is unique. Stress, lifestyle, diet, sleep, and age can affect both ovulation and fertility. Tracking your cycle with a fertility calculator helps estimate your fertile days, but for medical or fertility issues, consult a healthcare professional.
